Chichester District – Community Action Chest (Grants)

From Chichester District Council to Sidlesham Parish Council

Dear Parish Clerk,
Chichester District – Community Action Chest

I am writing to let you know about a new funding opportunity that will shortly be available. The Community Action Chest is a new flexible fund that will help local people wanting to take action to address the most important issues in their area.

From 1 October 2008 people will be able to apply to the Community Action Chest for grants up to £5,000. The application form is straight forward, focusing on three points:
What is the issue? How has it been identified? What are you proposing to do about it?

This new grants process has been specifically designed to encourage people to come forward with their ideas and get funds. So please consider or promote the Community Action Chest as a useful source of funding for new local initiatives.

In recognition of the importance of acting early when addressing some issues, this fund allows for applications from unconstituted groups of people who have the support of a formal organisation that is prepared to endorse their plans and manage their grant. It is possible therefore that your Parish Council may be approached to act in this “Supporter Organisation” role to facilitate a project in your area.

The Community Action Chest guidelines and application form can be downloaded from the District Council’s website or copies can be sent on request. For an informal chat about this new funding opportunity please call us.

Yours sincerely
Steve Hansford
